Overview
The film in brief.
Solstice Apparel needed a launch film for its autumn outdoor line — no voiceover, no interviews, just the feeling of the last warm hour of the day. We built the entire film around silhouettes: riders, runners and climbers drawn in black against burning skies.
Shot over four evenings across coastal ridges, the film pairs slow, patient wide shots with intimate handheld moments. The grade pushes amber highlights against deep teal shadows for a look that became the brand's signature across the whole season.
The challenge
What we were up against.
Autumn light is unpredictable, and the concept demanded real sunsets — no skies replaced, no day-for-night tricks. We had roughly forty usable minutes per evening and a wardrobe story that had to read in pure silhouette.
The approach
How we solved it.
We scouted three ridge lines for exact sun angles, rehearsed movement without cameras, and shot with two units so every sunset gave us parallel coverage. The edit lingers: long takes, natural sound, and a score that breathes with the wind.
