Overview
The film in brief.
Stillwater Retreats offers silence as a service — lake cabins with no schedules. Their film had to demonstrate doing nothing, beautifully. We filmed three guests across one slow weekend: reading, rowing, watching weather arrive.
The two-minute film carries almost no dialogue and a score built from lake recordings. Direct bookings doubled in the six weeks after launch, with guests quoting shots back to the staff.
The challenge
What we were up against.
Filming relaxation without manufacturing it. The crew had to be invisible enough that guests genuinely unwound — while still capturing cinema-grade images in available light.
The approach
How we solved it.
We limited the crew to three, shot on small bodies with natural light, and scheduled around the guests' rhythms rather than ours. The edit preserves real time wherever it earns it.
