Overview
The film in brief.
Atlas Rail Journeys sells slowness: multi-day rail crossings through mountain country. Our film follows one journey from departure board to final valley, letting the window do most of the talking.
We rigged suction mounts, shot timelapses from the dining car and interviewed passengers between stations. Bookings on the featured route rose forty percent in the quarter after release.
The challenge
What we were up against.
A moving train is a beautiful, vibrating, reflective box. Glare, flicker and schedule rigidity threatened every setup — and there are no second takes when the landscape passes once.
The approach
How we solved it.
We rode the route twice before filming, logging light direction by milepost. Polarizers, black drapes and a gimbal tuned for rail harmonics kept the window views clean and gliding.
