Overview
The film in brief.
Lumen Bicycles wanted a launch spot for its night-riding light system — filmed, fittingly, in the dark. One rider, one coastal road, and a beam of light carving through blue hour into full night.
We shot the entire spot in camera across two nights: motion-control passes, light-painted long exposures and a drone chasing the rider's beam. No CGI environments — just precise planning and a very fast cyclist.
The challenge
What we were up against.
Sixty seconds, two nights, and light that changes by the minute. Every setup had to be rehearsed in daylight and executed in darkness, with road closures measured in minutes.
The approach
How we solved it.
We pre-visualized the whole spot as an animatic timed to the score, then shot setups in reverse light order — darkest scenes first. The rider wore a radio earpiece so direction could ride along at 40 km/h.
